Are you social enough?

Summer is fast approaching and it’s an ideal time to look at the social aspect of your golf club. There will naturally be more people at the club over the next few months as the golfing season gets into full swing. In fact, more people tend to be out in general as pubs become more popular and people look for ways to make the most of some nice weather.

Offers at the bar, BBQs, Family Fun days, etc. Remember, your club is not just there fore people to play golf. All golfers need to eat, they need to drink, they like to socialise, and many have families who would use the club if there was the opportunity.

Just some thoughts

Happy Hour (or 2)

There is an audience of people who like to go to the pub on the way home on a Friday. These may be your members. Why are they not drinking at the club instead? Offering reduced price drinks on a Friday evening from 5-7 once a month over the Summer could get people to consider this as an option. No one wants to turn the clubhouse into the local pub, but it can easily become a simple meeting place for members to end the week and enjoy a drink together.

A Family Fun Day

Encourage members to bring the whole family along. Have some competitions for the children, have a BBQ, you might even want to hire a bouncy castle. Make your golf club a place where people want to be where everyone can have fun. For many, this can be the first step in getting youngsters interested in golf. A nice, relaxed atmosphere where there is the opportunity to try an element of the game without it being too serious.

Having a good social side to your club will help generate more revenue and if it is a place people want to be then the chances are that memberships will increase as well.
